This was totally not the post I had planned for today but I just felt led to talk about it and since International Womans Day was the other day it seems somewhat appropriate. I feel like I am in this season of life where I am so busy but so unmotivated. I don’t know if it is this never ending winter (thankful for the above 0 temps the past two days), two very busy babies, insomnia, so many “projects” on the go or what but I just feel like my “to do” list is always growing and nothing is getting accomplished which leaves me feeling very discouraged and makes me unmotivated. When it comes to fitness well I have just fallen off and watched that wagon take off and leave me in the dust. Every morning I wake up and lie in bed for a few moments thinking about my day and what I want to accomplish. Working out is always on that list but always near the bottom. (just being real here) Since I struggle with OCD I love having an actual “To Do” list. Every Monday I write down in my planner my goals (or things I want to get done project wise) and meals to make. Then each day I have a shorter list of things to get done and what dinner I am making. I find that to help me feel productive and like I actually accomplish something I need shorter more manageable lists because lets be serious when you have 10 projects staring at you on a piece of paper and you don’t know where to start you feel like walking away and just not even bothering to start. I was talking to my sweet friend the other day who is expecting her first little baby and is feeling discouraged that she wants to get so many things done before baby arrives but she tires so easily. I quickly replied with “oh sweetie just make yourself a short list of 1-3 things you want to accomplish a week and that way you will feel so much better and more productive”. As soon as I said it I was like “huh maybe I should take my own advice”. So many days my husband comes home from work and can tell I am not happy and sweetly asks why. My reply is usually “I accomplished nothing today” I love how he sweetly and gently slaps me in the face with the words “you are raising our two beautiful babies honey – you accomplished something” How quickly I forget about the two incredible little humans I have the privilege to shape and mold each day. So what if I don’t get 5 boxes packed today, a work out in, and dinner isn’t on the table when husband walks in the door. My kids are happy, healthy and we made memories today so thats what matters! But a healthy happy mommy/wife is a happy husband/family right. So making time to accomplish things and to get a work out in is important for my physical health as well as my mental. So I thought today maybe just maybe there is one person reading this that needs a little motivation today to get out there and do _______. Maybe its to take a run, go for a walk, read your Bible, write an email/letter to encourage a friend, make a shopping list, clean your bathroom, wash the dishes, even take a shower. Whatever it is do it! The first step is always the hardest. Maybe you have a dream and you are scared of stepping out and trying something new or working towards it because you are scared of failing or what others may think … stop stalling and get started! I don’t say this in a mean, bossy kind of way but in a loving, gentle, encouraging way because as much as I am saying it to you I am saying it to myself as well. I am in this with you! We can encourage each other!

My biggest motivation to be the best mommy/wife/woman I can be is my daughter (and my son). I want to teach my daughter how to love her self and to see herself the way Jesus sees her – beautiful! She is flawed, we all are yet she is perfect just the way she is and I want her to not care what others thing but to value herself and to find her worth not in the world, boys, money, clothes but in truth, in character, Godliness and the eyes of the man who thought she was worth dying for. The world is a scary place full of pressures and obstacles but I want to teach her to fight for what she believes in, to work hard to accomplish her dreams, to not be afraid to fail because you have fail to succeed and to be fiercely strong and independent yet to be loving and full of life, and kind to those around her. I want to model for her a woman who takes care and pride in her body by taking care of my health and physical appearance. To show her how to be a good wife and partner. How to work as a team as a couple. And I want to start doing that today!
