We recently celebrated my oldests birthday! I can’t believe I now have a 5 year old! It feels like with each passing year she is less and less a baby and more and more a grown up and its happening at lighting speed! Anyone that knows my girl knows she is always moving and flipping and jumping she has a lot of energy and can very rarely be found sitting still although her teacher says she does so in school! In September we enrolled her in gymnastics after hearing lots of comments from family and friends how she is a natural and would excel in it. I took dance growing up and sorta had hoped she might want to try that but when we tried a couple years ago she just really wasn’t into it so we asked her if she wanted to try gymnastics and she was super excited so we signed her up! And by no surprise she has been excelling and passing her sessions even being promoted to advanced level because of her natural ability but our girl she doesn’t care she literally just goes out there and has fun every week and comes home and practices all the time! (we will probably be replacing her bed and mattress soon since she thinks it is a trampoline mat to practice her flips and the canopy is a high bar) So when it came time to plan her party she of course asked to have a gymnastics party and to invite all her friends. Her gymnastics club has a great birthday party package where the kids get to spend an hour in the gym with coaches and than an hour in the party room! So she made her list of friends to invite which for a 5 year old is hard cause she just wanted to invite everyone but that doesn’t work for these type of parties. Once again I enlisted the help of my friend and cake baker extrodanier Dana from The Cake Place to make her cake and she delivered! She mimicked her little invitations with the design on the cake and it was perfect! I kept the decor somewhat simple with a few props such as a podium and a balance beam handmade by daddy to show case the adorable cookies. All of our little gymnasts took home a trophy filled with some of Graylynn’s favourite things – playdoh, candy, lip chap, skipping rope. For the back drop I just had a large poster made with the images off the invitations again and hung it behind our food table. I kept the colours all uniform from the invitation to the cookies and cake to the decorations. The kids all had so much fun and after an hour in the gym they devoured the pizza, veggies, cookies and cake and even had room for candy and popcorn! Best part was the birthday girl loved it so the party was a #win in my books!
