As you are probably aware my baby boy turned the big number one two weeks ago and I take every opportunity possible to throw a party, especially when its for my handsome little man. I started thinking about his party back in the summer! I know early right, but I feel like every birthday is so important – it (in my opinion) is so important to celebrate people, especially when they are turning 1 whole year old. I knew I wanted something classy yet kid friendly. Since my baby boy was born we have referred to him as “handsome” in fact that was the first thing my daughter ever called him before she even could say his name. She would call him “handsome” and then it turned into “buddy” and now its either, or his actual name (imagine that). So I started thinking how can I put that all together into a party that will obviously have to be held indoors, since its November and we live in the frozen tundra. So I came up with the not so original but seemingly perfect idea to have a black tie event. Obviously my colour scheme would be black, white and of course my beloved gold. I started looking for the perfect invitation first and then I started making my Pinterest board of ideas and making my long to do list.

I just loved these little napkins and I paired them with a solid gold napkin as well.

There is just a sneak peak into our little man’s first birthday party! The day was a lot of fun but to say it went off “without a hitch” wouldn’t be 100% accurate. Sure the cookies didn’t turn out the way I wanted them too, the big “C” in his ballon bouquet wouldn’t stay up and such but the important thing was that we had a house full of people who love our little man to death. They all came together to celebrate his sweet little life. They showered him with gifts, shared in watching a movie of his first year, (yes I cry every time I watch it) laughed and ate food, so really the day was a huge success. I am pretty sure my sweet boy knows nothing about all the things that didn’t go as mommy planned but I guess that is real life right. So time to start planning his next party now 😉 just kidding!
