My husband will tell you that I suffer from OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder). I would tell you I just like to be organized and I am very thorough (for the most part) at it. Now that I am “stuck” indoors a lot more with this cold weather, it gives me a chance to sort through drawers and go through boxes that usually I wouldn’t touch. I find that now that it’s a new year it’s also is a great excuse to get purging and de-cluttering. A fresh start to a new year! I am the furthest thing from a pack rat. I do like to hold onto things to things of sentimental value and for memories sake, but I am very selective as to what gets held onto and it must always fit into what I call “memory boxes”. My husband and I each have one and now our babies do too. We also have one from our dating years as well as from our wedding. If it doesn’t fit in the box then most likely I am not hanging onto it. I have found it to be more of a challenge this year since my daughter started pre school and is constantly bringing home new things she has made. My mother’s heart wants to hold on to each one so I have made a pile of my favourite ones since September and come June I will purge through the pile and pick only a couple of the really sentimental ones (i.e. her first day of school craft, Christmas craft). I have a fabulous friend who also “suffers” with the same love to be organized as I do and she purchased me a label maker a couple years ago. It has proven to be one of my favourite tools to keep things clearly and neatly marked. It also has caused my husband to laugh at me and poke fun on many occasions but thats okay I don’t mind. So today I thought I would share a few things  that can help you get organized.

Getting Organized

Those are just some of the things I like to use to help me get and stay organized. I usually opt for clear containers because they are easier to see the contents. (and yes I still label clear containers and my husband makes fun of me for it) But you can find just about every colour in storage containers. You could always do it so a certain colour represents something in your storage room. (i.e. green container for Christmas decor, Blue container for boys clothes). Even using some of the clear drawer liners to keep things in your desk and dressers organized helps so much. They also are great for storing makeup, nail polish, nuts, bolts, nails – you name it and it can be sorted an organized. So I hope this has got you a little motivated if you weren’t, and since it is Friday you have the weekend to get to work. (after you sleep in on Saturday because that’s what Saturday’s are for – at least they are before you have kids) Have a great weekend everyone!
