Now that I have pretty much all my Christmas shopping complete, it is time to move onto the next thing on my “to do” list: Baking! One of the things I love the most about holiday season is all the yummy food and baked goods. This year I have decided I want to ditch the “ole faithfuls” and try some new recipes. To my family members watch out because you will be seeing hopefully all of these new recipes around at Christmas. (hopefully they all turn out) I mean between my mother in law who always has an elaborate spread of home baked goodies (and bless her soul she sends tons home with us) and then my sister and sister in law who enjoy baking, we always have lots to snack on. I am kind of tired of the recipes I have been making for years that were passed on to me from my mother and so this year – out with the old and in with the new. I thought I would share some of the recipes I am going to try and crossing my fingers, I will be able to report back that they turn out. If you follow me on Instagram I am sure you will see some photos as I make them.

If you follow me on Pinterest you will see I have a folder dedicated just to Christmas Food! So you may have seen me pinning away and these are some of the ones that have really caught my eye and have my stomach growling and mouth watering.

Homemade Toffee

1. Homemade Toffee – this recipe looks easy which you know I love and I also love toffee so I really have high hopes for this recipe

Christmas Crunch

2.Christmas Crunch – Popcorn, chocolate, pretzels – yum!  Another easy recipe but will make a great snack to munch on while opening gifts or playing a board game.

egg nog cupcakes

3. Eggnog Cupcakes – Everyone loves cupcakes and these are the perfect Christmas flavoured cupcake. You could even make them into mini cupcakes – bite size!

oreo pepermint bark

4. Oreo Peppermint Bark – This is not only a very pretty looking recipe but sounds simple and delicious. I mean what is Christmas without some form of “bark”?

Cake Batter Chocolate Chip Cookies

5. Cake Batter Chocolate Chip Cookies – I have to admit I am probably most excited to make these cookies. They look so fun and sound delicious and I think my babies will go crazy over them. I think this will be a recipe I ask my daughter to “help” me with.

Easy Fudge

6. Easy Fudge – This fudge is literally two ingredients! Yes I said 2! No one really has an excuse not to try this one unless of course you don’t like fudge and then well I am sorry for your loss 😉

Candy-Bar-Pretzel-Bites

7. Candy Bar Pretzel Bites – I am a big fan of bite size things. It is quick and easy to pop in your mouth and it makes you think you haven’t eaten all that much. Plus then I think it makes it easier for you try a bunch of different things without having to commit to a large piece.

crandberry pound cake

8. Cranberry Pound Cake – I feel like if I renamed this a Cranberry Pound Loaf it would make it acceptable to eat for breakfast which is exactly what I want to do.

peppermin dip

9. Peppermint Cheesecake Dip  – We usually don’t think of a dip as a dessert but this Christmasy flavoured dip looks delicious. My family are all lovers of Cheesecake so this is perfect for their cravings.

Old Fashioned Cornflake Candy

10. Old Fashion Cornflake Candy – I have personally never had this treat but I have heard people raving about how it is their favourite treat around the holidays so I am looking forward to trying it. I think the idea of cereal being a dessert is very odd but you never know, some of the oddest sounding things end up tasting the best.

So what are your favourite recipes for the holidays? Do you do a lot of baking or just a couple things? Anyone part of a cookie exchange yet this year? Hope some of these recipes wet your pallet and encourage you to try something new.
