Its hard to believe we are already through Thanksgiving. Before we know it Christmas will be here! My weekend was wonderful spent at our cottage among the beautiful autumn coloured leaves and with family. It was a busy weekend but I am starting to realize I think life with a baby (who is on the move) and a toddler will always be busy. On Thursday afternoon my amazing friend dropped off some amazing gifts for my hubby our babies and I. To say my babies loved their gifts wouldn’t be an understatement. I mean just look at their faces.
Thursday was a late night after taking my dad for his MRI we headed to the cottage which was nice since we missed the cottage Friday traffic but it meant a late night for my babies which can always be a challenge. But thankfully we arrived safely which after witnessing two really bad accidents earlier in the day was something we weren’t taking for granted.
Friday was a beautiful day and we took advantage of the cooler temperatures and the gorgeous leaves and went for a family walk in the bush. We also managed to squeeze in some coffee in town along with the obvious groceries needed to make our dinner on Saturday!
On Saturday is when we choose to do the turkey dinner with some of my family. Cooking a turkey and all the fixings is a lot of work but the finished product is worth it (until you have to clean it all up).
We tried out a new salad that Jillian Harris shared about when she was on the Marilyn Denis Show last week. It was delicious and will definitely become a staple in my salad rotations now.
After all the delicious turkey and the fixings which pretty much results in a feast we needed to walk or waddle some of that food off. Going for walks at the cottage under the beautiful leaves that are dripping with vibrant coloured leaves is just so relaxing and calming. It is a true reminder of the gift of God’s creation and His marvellous handy work in all He has created.
Sunday we headed off to church and then it was time for Turkey Dinner round #2 with my husbands side of family. My babies had fun playing with their other cousins that they don’t get to see very often.
Monday morning was off to a slow, relaxing start and I loved that. I love long weekends and having my hubby home for an extra day. After tidying things up at the cottage we headed home later in the day. We thought we would miss traffic and my husband was anxious to get him in time for his hockey game that evening but man apparently everyone else was travelling on the highway at the same time. We ended up getting off the highway and taking the back roads home which made for a beautiful scenic route. Thankfully our babies are good travellers and they snoozed most of the trip and when they awake they were easily entertained and happy with snacks and toys.
All in all we had a fabulous weekend and where reminded numerous times about all the things we have to be thankful for. How was your Thanksgiving? How did you spend your weekend? I hope everyones short week is off to a great start. Long weekends are great but I also find short weeks hard!!
