Its hard to believe we are already through Thanksgiving. Before we know it Christmas will be here! My weekend was wonderful spent at our cottage among the beautiful autumn coloured leaves and with family. It was a busy weekend but I am starting to realize I think life with a baby (who is on the move) and a toddler will always be busy. On Thursday afternoon my amazing friend dropped off some amazing gifts for my hubby our babies and I. To say my babies loved their gifts wouldn’t be an understatement. I mean just look at their faces.

Thursday was a late night after taking my dad for his MRI we headed to the cottage which was nice since we missed the cottage Friday traffic but it meant a late night for my babies which can always be a challenge. But thankfully we arrived safely which after witnessing two really bad accidents earlier in the day was something we weren’t taking for granted.

Friday was a beautiful day and we took advantage of the cooler temperatures and the gorgeous leaves and went for a family walk in the bush. We also managed to squeeze in some coffee in town along with the obvious groceries needed to make our dinner on Saturday!

On Saturday is when we choose to do the turkey dinner with some of my family. Cooking a turkey and all the fixings is a lot of work but the finished product is worth it (until you have to clean it all up).

We tried out a new salad that Jillian Harris shared about when she was on the Marilyn Denis Show last week. It was delicious and will definitely become a staple in my salad rotations now.

After all the delicious turkey and the fixings which pretty much results in a feast we needed to walk or waddle some of that food off. Going for walks at the cottage under the beautiful leaves that are dripping with vibrant coloured leaves is just so relaxing and calming. It is a true reminder of the gift of God’s creation and His marvellous handy work in all He has created.

Sunday we headed off to church and then it was time for Turkey Dinner round #2 with my husbands side of family. My babies had fun playing with their other cousins that they don’t get to see very often.

Monday morning was off to a slow, relaxing start and I loved that. I love long weekends and having my hubby home for an extra day. After tidying things up at the cottage we headed home later in the day. We thought we would miss traffic and my husband was anxious to get him in time for his hockey game that evening but man apparently everyone else was travelling on the highway at the same time. We ended up getting off the highway and taking the back roads home which made for a beautiful scenic route. Thankfully our babies are good travellers and they snoozed most of the trip and when they awake they were easily entertained and happy with snacks and toys.

All in all we had a fabulous weekend and where reminded numerous times about all the things we have to be thankful for.  How was your Thanksgiving? How did you spend your weekend? I hope everyones short week is off to a great start. Long weekends are great but I also find short weeks hard!!

  • It finally feels like fall around here - well actually this morning felt like winter and as pretty as all the fall colors are I’m kinda already excited for Christmas- it could be since it’s the most wonderful time of the year or because the stores are bringing out their holiday stuff already - so who puts their tree up in the beginning of November? 🙋🏼‍♀️ I feel like I should clarify I love dressing for the fall I don’t enjoy winter weather for dressing and all the freezing temps I’m excited for the holiday festivities and decorating!
  • You my girl are going to do great things - you already are! This girl never ceases to amaze me and make me proud to be her mama! Her teacher asked to speak to us yesterday - we had no idea why - her teacher started to share with us about how kind Gray is and how proud she is of Gray. There is a student in their class that has special needs and Gray has taken such good care of of this little boy since the beginning of the year - she plays with him at recess and make sure he is always included. Her teacher was so impressed by how kind and loving Gray is and of course I wasn’t surprised but The tears did fall as I looked at my girl beaming with pride. You see this sweet girl has an ability to see people for who they are on the inside. She has been talking about this little boy for the past month and a half when she shares about her day and I had no idea he had special needs or that he was any different than she was cause she doesn’t see him that way she sees him as an equal. How different this world would be if we all treated each other as equal and shared love and kindness with each other!
  • Mirror, mirror on the wall...
It doesn’t matter if I’m short or tall...
If I have skinny legs or my hips are wide...
It only matters who I am inside...
Blue eyes, brown eyes, black or green...
What makes me most beautiful can not be seen...
When you look at me, don’t judge me by my parts...
The most beautiful about me is my heart #myhomesense
  • Happy Thanksgiving! I hope however you’ve celebrated whether today or this weekend you spent it verbalizing to the ones you love how thankful you are for them! It would be silly of me to try and tag the ones I’m thankful for but I truly feel blessed and I hope those of you know who you are!
  • Fear: feeling induced by perceived danger, a response to a specific stimulus occurring in the present, or in anticipation or expectation of a future. Fear of heartbreak? Fear of the diagnosis? Fear of abandonment? Fear of judgment? Fear of peoples perception of you? Fear of your bank account number? Fear is everywhere and I for one struggle with it! I find music to be a powerful tool in my life and these lyrics have been repeatedly playing over in my head this past week- I wake up singing them I sing them all day long and yet they aren’t just lyrics they are a declaration of truth that I am holding onto “There is no fear and no shame
Your love won't rise above
Every failure sealed within Your grave
For love has overcome”
  • Canadian Thanksgiving is days away and as much as this dreary rain would love to drag me down I can’t help but feel so grateful for so many things in my life! I have started keeping a running list of things throughout my day that I am thankful for like not just the obvious big things but the little ones too like a hot cup of coffee and a warm fuzzy blanket - do you know what that does for my thought process when I focus on all I do have to be thankful for!! What are you thankful for today?
