I am so excited because… WE ARE GOING ON VACATION! To say I am excited doesn’t truly express how excited I really am. It feels like time moves slowly when you are waiting for your vacation to arrive but it flies by when you are on the vacation. It has been 6 months since my little family has been on a real vacation (not including cottage weekends and long weekends) and we are more than ready for it. Since having such a busy summer and equally busy fall, we are ready for time to relax, have fun and reconnect! My favourite part about vacation is having my hubby home everyday and just spending time with him and our babies. Since we are going to be flying, packing always takes more thought. I want to pack compactly leaving lots of room for shopping (because I like to shop ALOT). Our flight is 5 hours so I need to think about entertaining my babies for a good chunk of the time (they will sleep some of it – at least I hope they do). I have been blessed flying with them in the past, they have been great travellers but now my son is less of a baby and will need more entertaining so my hands really will be full. My daughter will have her own seat so that will help but this mama has been searching pinterest and wracking my brain for creative “new” toys and ideas of things to keep them content in their seats. So far this is what I have come up with:

teething necklace  iPad  headphones cup  soother  blanket  wooden toys  book  colouring book  snacks  clothing play-doh   stickers

I am excited to try out this new teething necklace that I got. My baby boy loves to always put my necklaces in his mouth so I thought this would be a great thing to wear on the flight so he can chew until his gums are content and I don’t have to worry about him getting hurt or damaging one of my good necklaces. There is the obvious favourite blankie, soother, cup and snacks. Don’t forget extra diapers and a big pack of wipes. As you can see from my photo there are a lot of Disney’s Frozen themed things packed in my daughters backpack. We will also be bringing her Anna and Elsa dolls because we don’t go anywhere without them. I found these wooden lacing toys at Chapters Indigo and I think my baby will love putting them in his mouth and I am excited to see my daughter work at stringing them together on the provided lace. We will also be sure to pack both my kiddies iPads and the cords to charge them because they are a life line for us. Truly though iPads are a great thing and I know there is a lot of controversy about screen time before age 2 but they also can be educational. My daughter loves playing educational games on her iPad, she can colour, paint, do puzzles and then the obvious is watching movies and shows. Let’s be honest here (because I am a huge believer in honesty always) whatever it takes to keep your babies happy and content on a 5 hour plane ride is what you will do. Atleast thats what I will do.  But I have also packed a new colouring book and markers for her because she enjoys the old fashion way of colouring as well. Play-doh is something new for her but she is really enjoying it so I let her pick out a new pack to bring along on the trip. Stickers seem like such a simple thing but both my babies love stickers so we will be throwing a couple different packs in as well.

Have you ever taken your babies on a flight? How about a long car ride? What did you pack for them? Am I forgetting anything else that I should be remembering or adding?
